Founded in 2009, MCF is a non profit organisation that works with migrant communities in Beijing, China. The organisation is staffed by a dedicated team of long-term volunteers who organise events, manage the MCF’s programs and maintain relationships with migrant schools. All of them are based in Beijing full time.

MCF is a platform to channel efforts from around the world to make a difference to migrant children. The main problem is not the number of people wanting to help, but having the knowledge or understanding of how to help where it is needed the most. We are nothing without the help and support of volunteers and partners, and we welcome anyone who wishes contribute in any way.

Our Mission Statement

The Migrant Children’s Foundation (MCF) is a non profit organisation dedicated to enriching and expanding the educational opportunities available for disadvantaged children living in Beijing, China. MCF offers volunteer teaching placements at under-resourced schools, allowing young volunteers to immerse themselves in China’s vibrant culture whilst providing vital skills and classroom attention to young children. The focus isn’t only on teaching – it’s about sharing experiences, giving time, learning new skills and cultural exchange. The overarching aim of MCF is to allow its volunteers to simultaneously teach and learn – both contributing to, and benefiting from, the communities into which they are immersed – and to leave China with an understanding of, and respect for, its people and its culture.
