Dong Liqun, inspires Summer Camp crowd of 700+

Liqun, a 10-year old from one of MCF’s sponsored schools, was the only student representative to make an inspirational speech to more than 700 students and adults who attended the opening ceremony of the 2015 five-day Beijing Summer Camp

The camp’s theme, “Under the same sky, (let’s) build the Technology Dream” prompted Liqun to say, “we are very pleased to have the opportunity to participate in scientific and cultural summer camp activities… we will be a summer camp for all students to help each other and share the joy of a good friends in this large collective solidarity… we will cherish every day, broaden our horizons in… science and technology, expand our culture and experiences…and, most importantly…learn from each other and help each other.”

Students participated building model planes and many other popular and creative interactive science activities. There was also, of course, a Fun With Science event and a Science Salon, hosted by the ever-present champion of Science (and fun) – Professor David Evans of the Royal Academy of Chemistry.

“I am very proud of Liqun, says MCF Founder Helen Boyle. “ She was the only student representative chosen to speak. Speaking in front of so many people is a daunting task, even for an adult. She did a brilliant job and highlighted the ingenuity and creativity of the migrant student community. Well done, Liqun!”

MCF, for its part, organized Mingyuan’s participation and paid for their transportation to and from this exciting annual event.
