Physics session with Peking University Volunteers

On November 8, we went to a migrant children school in Tongzhou, demonstrating experiments, stimulating children’s interests in science and imparting the knowledge about atmosphere pressure. All the experiments are all about air pressure. We use several interesting experiments to teach them a physics theory — when the air speed is higher, its pressure gets lower at the same time. And then we put it into everyday life, letting them know that is the reason why we should stay within the yellow line when waiting the metro or railway, in case of low air pressure generated by the high-speed train attracting us into the train. We also use cartoon to show them what we taught.

In majority of time, children were learning physics by conducting experiments and playing games, like using two half straws to splash water by the law of physics mentioned above, and playing air boom.

We are not only happy to know that they have learnt something new, but also to see the precious curiosity and eager to science, to the mother nature from their sincere eyes, that is what we are looking forward to.
