Saturday 8th of April was a busy day for MCF’s Friends! One of our events was taking place at Beijing City International School (BCIS).MCF’s students joined with their BCIS’s counterparts in order to develop their skills for the up and coming MCF’s Improv event.
On the day, 10 students travelled to BCIS to partake in Improvisational exercises designed to help the students from MCF learn English speaking, improvised dialogue and how to express their ideas in English.
The excited students arrived at 09:00 am and were greeted by 2 BCIS students (Marina and Almira).
The students settled in and refreshed themselves with snacks. They then headed to the playground for a simple game of pass the ball & say your name to get things started.
The activities ramped up from here. The MCF students were divided into 2 groups, the first group focusing on dialogue, which included greetings, short introductions and emotions. The students were shy initially but opened up very quickly thanks to the patience and friendly environment created by the BCIS students (Marina and Almira).
Meanwhile the 2nd group was led by Laura and Mia. Here, the students were given a notebook each and encouraged to draw themselves, along with bits of information about themselves that they wanted to share.
As the smiling students got back on the bus they were excitedly reciting the English phrases they had practiced at BCIS.
I would to thank BCIS for hosting us with such generosity and kindness and also a well planned IMPROV session by the BCIS students. My thanks also to Hassan, our MCF volunteer, for overseeing what proved to be a very successful session.
